For Meagan (and others who’d like to become news-savvy),
I am going to share my deepest darkest secrets: my news sources! Here is where I get my current events:
I think BBC News is my most favourite news website. The articles are always really interesting and well written, and it's very current. Before you jump to conclusions, the BBC does reports about all sorts of places, not just the UK/Europe. Five stars for this website!
For purely Canadian and mostly current news try CBC. I like it because it is Canadian, homegrown news. No real complaints about it.
If you've heard about a news topic (like ohh, the war in Iraq) and want to know more about it, check out the most obvious suggestion Google News Canada. It is wayyy easy to use/navigate (although the articles can sometimes be garbage).
And two of my favourite news/current issues blogs are: Thought Mechanics, it has written articles by the sites owners, plus people can submit articles. It's nice to get a feel for what others are thinking and it's 99% accurate. Also, Guardian Unlimited News Blog. This site is really random with the things they post. I'm not too big a fan of it, but you can find out some really interesting stuff that is going on in the world.
I hope this has helped with your English exam and the expanding of your mind! :)
