Okay. There are so many things wrong with this sentence.
Ahmadinejad is known for many things: his support for the development of nuclear technology in Iran, his dislike for current U.S. President George Bush and his absolute dismissal of the Holocaust (he claims it's a myth).
The Canadian government lists Iran as one of the thirteen worst abusers of human rights in the world.
It scares me to think someone so. . . I don't know what word I'm looking for, uneducated maybe, runs a country. A country who has the ability at any time to start wars, create bombs etc.
If the Holocaust thing wasn't a great enough example, here is an exert from the BBC article:
"Asked about executions of homosexuals in Iran, Mr Ahmadinejad replied: "In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country." Reacting to laughter and jeers from the audience he added: "In Iran we don't have this phenomenon, I don't know who you told this.""My mind is boggled. How he got the opportunity to speak there (and why he decided to) really just confuses me. And in New York City none the less (for the record, Iran has no direct correlation with 9/11. But it has been said that they supply Iraq insurgents with their weapons).
I really commend the University, it's not just that this conference was out there, it was dangerous. Having well-hated Middle Eastern "dictators" in a place like NYC, well, I just don't see it going over well.
