Cod jigging grounds.

So Saturday morning I woke up bright (well, not so bright) and early to venture to the great green north.

It poured and poured the whole way there, but I got to see all the antique cars making their way out for the show that was supposed to take place Sarturday.

My first stop was Tim’s for a nice chocolate-milk ice-cap. I had to wait 16 minutes in line for it. I was not impressed, but whatever.

Second stop was in Corner Brook to pick up Josh, who I might add, did not pump my gas for me.

Third stop, Wiltondale, where we were supposed to meet Meagan. She was late. Really late. So I asked the woman at the store for directions and took off on my own. It was semi-amusing.

We met up with Meagan and made our way out to Gram’s home. She had pizza waiting for us in her really cool, 120 year old home.

We went “in to town” after that, where we promptly purchased ponchos to protect us from the rain. Oh, and a toothbrush for me because - of course! - I forgot mine. We walked along the beach and I collected a ton of sea glass, while Meagan and Josh threw seaweed at each other.

We came home and played some 120’s with Grams. Gram and I were partners, and even though Josh and Meagan won the first round, we obviously had the superior method to playing cards.

Later we went out to supper at the Ol’ Loft. Fancy and nice. I had a grilled chicken burger and for dessert I had this massive brownie of yum. Afterwards we picked up wieners and marshmallows for a campfire.

While we were brushing our teeth when we got home, Grams totally snuck out in a good ol’ fashioned I’m-fifteen-and-I-want-to-see-my-boyfriend-so-I’ll-climb-out-this-window kind of way. By the time we caught her she was out in the middle of the bay. But it was worth it! She came back with three nice sized cod.

We went fishing off of the wharf, and Sarah Smith caught her first newfie fish. It was the biggest one caught too! I was severely impressed with myself. Meagan then promptly lost the conner trap in the water. Nice one. :)

That night we saw a pretty nice fireworks display. Afterwards we had a campfire on the meter of beach that was left, it was literally a half of a foot away from the water.

Meagan and I had a cool slumber party because we shared a room. She heard me giggling in the early morning and probably thought I was crazy, but secretly I was just listening to my Dawn and Drew podcast.

Gram had eggs, bacon and waffles waiting for us for breakfast. It was awesome. We sort of just hung out all morning and Josh and I left after lunch.

And that was my uber cool weekend! I’d like to thank Gram’s sooo much for being a wicked hostess and even better card player. Good times had all around.

The view from my window.

The scenery from the car on the drive there.

Landscape view from outside the store.

The Tablelands!

A waterfall that was accross the street from Grams'.

The trusting wood seller, who leaves both his wood and the money collected from it on the side of the road.

A boat that I was severely impressed with.

Store bought ponchos! WOOOOT.

This is me. In a poncho. How exciting.

I bet the locals thought we were mad.

Meagan got stuck carrying the ponchos. Burn.

The end.

You should give me a list of fun podcasts that you listen to. I'm attempting to get into them but I need a starting point.

Your trip sounds awesome. I'm jealous of your crazy fun times. Hah
