Did you know that the original 7up contained lithium? I thought that was hilarious.
"7 Up, as its first name suggests, originally contained lithium citrate, a mood-stabilizing drug. It was one of a number of patent medicine products popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. . ."
You might have heard me mentioned that I've had a stuffy nose for the majority of the summer and that it has been driving me crazy. Here's a scary thought:
I was down at the mall waiting for my Mom to get off work, she told me Pepsi was on sale for ninety-four cents. I, being the addict I am, went over and picked up two bottles of my infamous Diet Pepsi.
I was waiting in line when a friend of my Moms (whom she was speaking to at the time) said "Oh, I can't drink Diet Pepsi anymore." I just kind of nodded because I've heard it all before. She continued with "Yeah, I used to get really bad sinus problems. Almost like my nose was swollen and I couldn't blow it. I went to the doctor and he said it was because of the aspartame, I stopped drinking Diet Pepsi and sure enough! No more stuffy nose."
At this point my Mom and I were all omgsplosion because that has what I have been going through. So my Mom bought me a bottle of regular Pepsi and asked me to drink that over the next few days to curb my addiction. And wouldn't you know it, I lost my stuffy nose problem.
I knew aspartame was bad, but I decided to look up stuff on it regardless. Did you know it's a carcinogen?! I sure as hell didn't.
"Aspartame has been the subject of a vigorous public controversy regarding its safety and the circumstances around its approval. A few studies have also recommended further investigation into alleged connections between aspartame and diseases such as brain tumors, brain lesions, and lymphoma."
"Approximately 10% of aspartame (by mass) is broken down into methanol in the small intestine. Most of the methanol is absorbed and quickly converted into formaldehyde."
"The European Ramazzini Foundation responded to the EFSA findings by stating that they believed the 16% increase in incidence of lymphoma and leukemia between the aspartame group and control group signified that these cancers were caused by aspartame ingestion."
All of this information that I have been finding, scares the crap out of me. Like wow. Think of the things you put in your body everyday without even blinking an eye. No wonder diseases like cancer, diabetes and other random ones exist in today's world.
Wow, this turned into a soda pop update without me even realizing it.
In other news, Reanna is leaving me tomorrow and I probably will never see her again. That hurts.

Hah apparently the original name for 7 up was "Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda"
Am I the only one that thinks they should have kept that name?
Well, I knew Aspertame had been linked to Cancer, but I'm fairly certain nothing has been proven.
Though that doesn't set MY mind at ease =P.
