In your eyes I see a picture of me all the time.

Sometimes when I’m sad or lonely or in pain or angry or unhappy or depressed or ill, I will watch this video.

I think a little NKOB should be administered at all hospitals.

P.S. “Step One” guy scares the shit out of me.
P.P.S. “Step Five” kind of looks like Holly’s brother.

Hospital music.

Sarah says:
i woke up at two this morning

Sarah says:
and my stomach was exploding and i was throwing up

Sarah says:
i spent all day at the hospital and it seems my appendix wishes out!

Robyn says:
oh noooo!

Robyn says:
so do you have to get 'em out?!

Sarah says:
i had an ultrasound and it isn't inflamed

Sarah says:
so they don't want to do anything yet

Sarah says:
and basically they sent me home and told me to get worse and then come back

Appendicitis
anyone?

Oily silence mocks the legless.

Sometimes I feel like Stephen Harper is the only Canadian who wants us fighting in Afghanistan.

It’s not hard to draw this conclusion when I read newspapers with headlines screaming “HARPER WANTS TO EXTEND MISSION IN AFGHANISTAN” or “HARPER SCARED THAT 2009 PULLOUT WILL HARM NATO”.

Did my Prime Minister just tell the press he was scared?

Maybe it could be the fact that my Poli Sci profs all mutter about a certain foreign president’s hand being stuck up our current PM’s backside playing puppet master.

It could be that all three opposition parties are saying GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE, DUMBASS. The Bloc and NDP parties calling for a pullout of troops right now.

I could look at the 78 headstones of Canadian soldiers and cringe.

I could bite my nails and chalk it up to the fact that this year I will be having not one, but two close relatives serving overseas in this catastrophic “war on terror”.

Every time I start thinking about stuff like this I am reminded of that comment someone left on Matthew Good’s blog once upon a time…

“…if this was another decade, there would be riots in the streets. I guess our rebellious youth are waiting for the revolution to be streamed on Youtube first.”

Acountabilibuddy.

Last night was lovely.

Everyone spent hours trying to figure out the first time we had met each other. And then in turn, when we had became friends.

Leah shared with me her first memory of me (as did I with her) last night.

In grade two I transferred out of a scary and pretentious Pentecostal school and into W.E., a rambunctious and overtly fun public school.

We went to W.E. together for a few years. Leah and I are different ages so we were never in the same class, but when assemblies were held all the grades would go sit in one big lump together in the gym.

Leah says she remembers one time where for some reason everyone’s coats were in a big pile together after one of these assemblies. I was in grade two and she was in grade one and like every girl our age we had one thing in common – a pink coat.

According to Leah’s memory, she remembers putting on her coat only to find that somehow her zippered coat had been transformed into a button one. And who do you think owned that button one?

“I think that’s my coat.” A little seven year-old Sarah came up and said. And we swapped jackets and that was that.

FRIENDSHIP JACKETS.

My first memory of Leah (other than the obvious one) is not until the very first day of grade ten (grade nine for her). I met her at lunch that day.

But the more vivid memory I have was of that recess. Everyone was everywhere like all recesses, especially on the first day of school.

Robert came up to me and asked “Hey, have you seen Leah?” I looked at him and asked “Leah who?” Rob responded with “Leah Burt!”

I stared him down quizzically, “You mean eye patch Leah?”

Ten years difference.

[EDIT(S): (1) There is a tie in the haircut poll! I can’t do both so to all you lurkers out there (and I know you’re out there so don’t try and hide) pay your lurking dues and VOTE! Poll ends tonight at midnight EST, 1:30 in NL, 1:00 in most of Labrador. (2) Just a quick note, did anyone notice that oxen cart my brother got for Christmas in the first picture in the post below? Way to shop there, Mom.]

Today is my brother’s 29th birthday! He has one more year before the weight of adulthood just crushes him into oblivion.

Sucker.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO! :D
