Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh.

As promised, my critique of Angelina Jolie on AC360 being interviewed by Anderson himself. I'm just going to randomly, in no order, name off the things that stuck in my mind.

It's absolutely astonishing that a woman like Jolie has done/accomplished so much at such a young age. She is only 29! With three kids, a UN ambassador, multi-million dollar paychecks and Brad Pitt for a mate, she's obviously doing something right.

She was asked many questions from motherhood to Iraq to the situation in the Congo, and she had well thought answers for everything. Anderson was obviously impressed with her looks and mind.

She was asked “What is your view on the war in Iraq?” What a loaded question to ask any American these days. She started the sentence with something that me stop and think “It’s done. We’re there.” No one says that. No one says it’s done, not like that. I know that might make absolutely no sense to you, but it amazes me.

They spoke about the issues in the Congo, a subject that I find very frightening and yet I try to keep track of, on a weekly basis, what news is coming out of there. For those of you who don’t know, the Congo is basically gone insane. Child soldiers, food shortages, abductions and the influx of Rwandan refugees has been a bad combination for them.

She was also asked about “Making the choice to adopt.” Again she replied with something truly insightful “I’ve always known that my kids are around the world.” She shared that she plans to adopt another child soon and that it will not be her last. She wants lots of children.

Here are some random facts that I wrote down because I thought they were interesting:

  • There are 15 million refugees world wide.
  • A child is orphaned every 14 seconds.
  • Jolie pays for her own trips as a UN ambassador and donates 1/3 of her salary to charitable causes.
  • 100, 000 Ethipions die from HIV each year.
  • 1/4 kids die before the age of 5 in Niger.

The only problem I had was they showed the same clips of Jolie’s interview like a thousand times. It was weird.

It was a good show because they showed clips of Anderson in Niger, Rwanda and so on. Clips I obviously hadn’t seen since they aired back in the early nineties.
